So, I just sent some of you an e-mail regarding this "scam" about forwarding an e-mail and you will get lots and lots of money. So if it really works, would any of you be willing to share with me? I mean you are my favorite sibling, cousin, friend, acquaintance (sp?), lover, whatever you consider yourselves to be to me......really I would truly appreciate it. You see, some of you think I am rich considering the fact that I am single, have no kids...well I have a little girl who is 2.......i have medical bills, food storage, a need to look professional at work (hence the naughty trips to Kohl's Day after Christmas sales!), a car payment, rent, entertainment for my little two year old, her many trips to the vet because she likes to eat easter grass and christmas ribbon which give her hepatitis (not the kind from shared needles), my pharmacy (aka drug) habit (for those of you who comment that I have my own personal pharmacy in my bathroom with the many rows of pill bottles for all sorts of things.....), my own personal entertainment habit (otherwise known as Hollywood Video, Target, Dick's Market.....), and anything else you want to insert......please out of the goodness of your hearts.....when you send the e-mail and get thousands and thousands of dollars back........remember......it is I who helped you get there so it is only fair that you thank me in cold......hard......cash......at least fifty percent of how much you got.........love (insert adjective of relativity) Kristen....Tintin Weewee......Butthead......or whatever you have fondly referred to me as in your time of knowing me.......

I'm Back!

So for those of you who wondered if I was dead, I was sort of.....I was busy working way too much time at work, training everyone on our new computer system, going to ward christmas parties, last minute shopping, and last but not least having more surgery! This was a very easy procedure (for the most part), but man what ever they gave me I don't remember a couple of days last week so if you called to have a conversation, I don't remember a word I said to you, I am sorry! So for those of you who have heard horror stories about Davis, I can say from personal experience, they were very very nice! A special thanks to Sam for taking me and trying not to die laughing after they gave me the crazy drugs and entertained her before they took me to the OR, and a shout out to my mother for ignoring the ramblings of a drugged patient who did not stop talking once coming out of surgery or on the way home! I am still in the process of recovering but hoping to be completely back to normal by Christmas Eve! Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!!!!

Cheesy Chicken Casserole

Oh this is SO GOOD!!! Everyone needs to make it for their families! I highly recommend it! The recipe is for three servings so if you have a bigger family, just double the recipe and the size of the pan and enjoy!

1 can (10 3/4 oz) cream of chicken soup

1 1/3 cup water

3/4 cup UNCOOKED regular white rice

1/2 tsp onion powder (or garlic salt works as well)

1/4 tsp black pepper

2 cups frozen mixed veggies (this is optional)

4 skinless bonless chicken breast halves (we used full chicken breasts)

1/2 cup (or more) shredded cheese

1-stir soup, rice, water, onion powder, pepper and vegetable sin 11 x 8 shallow baking dish

2-Top with chicken, season chicken as desired (I just put more garlic salt in) and Cover

3-Bake at 375 for 50 min or until chicken and rice are done, top with cheese, let casserole stand, stir rice before serving

**Can use green beans as a side dish, tastes excellent with this or garlic bread or fruit

Don't Listen to the Messages on the Cellphone!

So for those of you who know me, I have a cell phone for no apparent reason. I just use it as looks. I am not one to text, trust me I have special tutors for that and I still don't get it! I only check the messages once a week if that......so I decided to be unnormal and check my messages on friday as I am driving. Silly me....So it's from the colon cancer surgeon saying he would like to see me every three months "to look". He brought up my case at their weekly cancer conferences or whatever the heck they do and the suggestion was to torture me as much as possible since those kinds of exams are SO MUCH FUN!!!!! So the plan is to call him back and say "have you ever had this much fun yourself?" and WHY DO I HAVE TO BE TORTURED?? Apparently I am so unusual (duh, no surprise there!) they want to watch these tumor cells and how fast they grow and how I feel and all that yaddayadda. So we'll see what the phone conversation is like this week....sigh.....

However, I got my first ding in her at the gas station (why is no one in my family surprised since I had that experience with Grandma's boat?) Plus thanks to the too late explanation from Jonny Poo, I thought the tank was empty and went to fill it up and the pump thing kept rebelling so I kept squeezing and the end result was me smelling like gas (the kind from the gas pump) Thankfully no one lit a ciggy around me! I was soaked down the front, uuuggghhhh talk about gross, needless to say the clothes and the brand new coat are on their 2ND wash of the day! Jonny Poo's explanation was that tributes and fords have slower sensors to let you know when the tank is full and when it's not. Here's your sign Kristen!

I did what??

I did it!! A 2005 Mazda Tribute for an early birthday present! I pick it up on Tuesday. My car decided to pass away peacefully at 9:00 am on friday, thankfully in the driveway, after i had tried to get it fixed a few weeks ago. It was just time since I have had it a few years and it had over 100,000 miles on it and was so good. Good bye Green Gerta! Hello ---- new ideas for a car name anyone?? Here's a picture.....

Just another Chapter in the Book of Life!

Don't go picking your outfit to wear to my funeral just quite yet. I went to Huntsman today and honestly I am gonna get put to sleep next time I go because NOBODY should have to suffer the torture of the testing they did while I was awake and the valium had already worn off cause they were late seeing me! I honestly hope to high heaven that I get put to sleep or have something that makes me forget the whole thing ever happened next time! An hour worth of exams that just are not normal! But anyways, they didn't find anything that needed to be taken care of immediately. However, I do have to get colonoscopies every 6 months until they catch the cancer cells doing something funky like growing polyps or turning things different colors than the normal pink of your rectal/colon area. I have what is called low grade neuroendocrine tumor/cancer cells that are very slow growing and will eventually manifest themselves into full blown cancer, it could happen next year or when I am seventy. But the fact remains, it will never go away and I will have to deal with it more aggressively when we get to that point. But for now I would rather have a colonoscopy any day after what I went through today! But the doc was really great and Huntsman seems to be a really nice place and hopefully none of you will ever have to go there! So thank you for your love and prayers which I truly felt this week. I love you all and I am now going to do something fun since I ain't dropping dead yet or getting my head shaved for chemo! Don't know what I will do yet, but when I do I will let you know! And by the way Chris I am so glad I could make yours and Larisa's day today! Thanks for the laughs you stinker! :)

New niece-an addition to the Willey Family

So, it doesn't look like I will be posting in pics from California, there were only four and two of them were of the cat that slept with me. So sorry for getting your hopes up. However, my sister called my mom the other day and told her they had adopted a little black baby. She doesn't have a name yet and my sister's family is very in love with her. Here is what I am guessing she looks like......congrats Larisa and Family!

M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E

I just got back from the best vacation ever. I slept A LOT! I went to Disney Land. It was a blast. My cousins Bethann and Suzanne went with me. We laughed the entire time! We left Aunt Shirlee in the shade in a wheelchair and explored the parks. There was no one there....probably cause it was 9/11 when we went. There was an idiot in front of us at the security check point with a 6 inch knife! Yeah, like you are not going to get caught! But we got on everything we wanted to and didn't have to wait longer than 10 minutes for a couple of the rides. I will post pics later. We had a BLAST! I also did a lot of shopping----mainly stuff for me and a few items for some birthdays coming up....We went out to eat a lot at various restaurants. I think I came home with fleas since the neighbors next door were being tented for fleas and they had some flea outbreaks in the neighborhood that week, plus my aunt's cat had them......yeah not fun! But other than that, airport clearance was a breeze, somehow my luggage came in before I did which made me panic a little when my suitcase didn't come out of the baggage claim and then I hear my name overhead uh-oh.......whew, just them notifiying me my bags were there.....but I am glad to be back and back to real life again and working so I can earn more money to pay off my credit cards and stuff....

Updates on Mom

So mom had surgery sunday morning to put pins in her hip. She was not a happy camper coming out of surgery so they put her on a morphine drip. She is so much fun when she is drugged! It's hilarious to witness! But it's amazing how many people care and love mom that much. I have had people calling me all day and talking to me at their ward to know what they should do. So we'll see how things go in the next couple of days.

Unbelievable

So I get a phone call tonight that my mom broke her hip. The woman is too young to be breaking her hip! She's only 58!!!!!!!!! I feel guilty cause I am leaving for California in a couple of days! She has taken care of me through all my ER/hospital visits and now I want to take care of her. She is having surgery sometime in the next couple of days to put a pin in and hopefully they won't have to do anything more! So please keep her in your prayers!

I died and went to heaven

OMG-(Gosh), I went to Red Robin yesterday for the very first time. They know how to make the best cheeseburger I have EVER tasted! Their fry sauce was absolutely amazing!!! Little did I know that you are supposed to ASK for a dessert menu since I didn't see the dessert options anywhere cause I really wanted to try the mile high mud pie that everyone raves about! I seriously need to go there every day!

Oh wait, wasn't I trying to lose weight??? sigh------

Gross!

I will apologize in advance to all you sushi lovers. I tried it today for the first time and last time. It is nasty. What is there to love about it? Mine looked like these little snakes wrapped in rice paper, uuggghhh. Just thinking about it makes me gag. Glad there are others out there who will enjoy it for me! So I am not a sushi fan. Sorry (especially to Sarah Kubie :0))

FALSE ALARM!

So I spoke with the neurosurgeon today, um yeah, the radiologist got a little too excited and didn't wait for the contrast to finish filling up the pituitary and immediately thought I had a tumor, the neurosurgeon spent like 45 minutes reviewing the films and said THERE"S NOTHING WRONG, my parents and I were like ARE YOU SURE??? So I am fine, but I have no idea what the answer is for all the other hormonal problems I have, so y'all can breathe a sigh of relief! So the radiology report said I had a tumor, the doc said NO

So I just wanted to let y'all know, I found out today that I have a brain tumor. Wahoo!!!!! I have been having MRI testing and they found a problem. It's pushing my pituitary all over and causing me a lot of grief that finally has answers to it! I busted up laughing when I found out. Yeah I know the rest of you would cry, my co-workers did.....I just figure, what else can happen on my life road, it's just another construction zone to go through! So onward and upward to deal with this little minor irritation. Hope y'all have a GREAT DAY! Here's a picture for your viewing pleasure

Happy 4th of July

So much has happened in the last few weeks. I returned back to work and it's been crazy ever since! At least I am keeping busy! I was called to the activities committee in my ward because they found out I wasn't going on the river trip in a couple of weeks. So they figured that they had to assign me to be in charge of tents, lanterns, firewood and an assistant medical personnal person, so dang it, I have to go! So there will be pictures posted here in a few weeks.
Monday and tuesday I ended up in St George to work----it was 115 and the low was 105 at night! The pool was a lovely 85 degrees----and oddly enough, we had the whole pool to ourselves! The hotel was packed because there was a boys and girls soccer convention and they practiced at all hours of the night(love it when the soccer ball hits the door at 2 AM) We had a tire blowout because we hit a nail on the way down---so that was an experience in and of itself but we had a lot of people willing to help us out with getting the tire repaired so we could come back home.
I participated in my first 5K in Centerville yesterday. I walked the whole thing in 53 minutes and 12 seconds---you gotta admit that's pretty good for someone who is still recovering from MAJOR abdominal surgery! Our singles ward decided to particiapte just for fun.
Other than that, I just work, sleep, exercise and shop! Stay tuned for the pictures of my river trip!

A Time for Mourning and Happiness

My last living grandparent passed away on June 1, 2008. I am so grateful to have been able to say goodbye one last time in this lifetime. The funeral was very lovely. Who would have thought that my dad would conduct his mom's funeral last year and his mom-in-law's this year? The day was very cold-hence the blanket and freezing little kids. I am grateful to have watched my mom lovingly care for her mom over the last decade or so and the tender bond that I saw between them is something I hope I have with my mom and espeically as she gets older. Life is a time to learn, love and grow and watching my mom over the last couple of weeks before grandam died. It was sad to watch but at the same time, we were grateful that grandma was released from her earthly trials of Alzeheimers.

I also found out that a dear friend's mom passed away a few days ago. my heart just goes out to her and aches for her because moms are incredibly special people and the superheros of a child's life. I know she and her mom shared an unbelievable bond that I was able to witness on many occassions. Mom-just want to let you know that I love you and can never express that enough to you and all that you do.

Gotta love her regardless!

gggrrrrrr, so monday night lily my spoiled baby cat starts puking everywhere for hours and I notice she isn't eating or going potty, so I was like crap! Tuesday morning still nothing! so i called the vet and I am like is this serious?? they were like maybe it could be, so i fought with her to get her in the carrier for 45 minutes and then off to the vet we went, well, I start to cry once I drop her off and cried the rest of the day hysterically thinking that she's gonna die and has to have major surgery and my mind is going crazy, mom tells me to start thinking about putting her to sleep----nnnnooooo! she's only a year and a half old. nobody is telling me anything, the vet calls me later that afternoon and is like we need to do xrays and lab work--she is refusing food, yadayada, and we need to do an ultrasound and she could have a blockage, I am just like freaking out! So needless to say, I never went to bed because I was so worried about my baby girl!
this morning the vet calls and was like, I don't think there is a blockage but she has hepatitis. I was like what? how the heck did she get hepatitis--it apparently started in her gallbladder and spread to her liver, they started her on antibiotics and iv fluids and said she could come home this afternoon. I went to get her and they said I had to learn to force feed her (ha right!) so i did and i had to give her antibioitcs as well.........guess what happened 500 dollars later????????

she was freaking out tonight and I was like what is her problem--she was running around screaming and crying and I was like what is the deal??
she pooped out LOTS OF EASTER GRASS she had gotten into last week!!!!!!! 500 dollars for 50 cent easter grass??????? she had a foreign object in her and that's probably why she got hepatitis---so I gotta call the vet tomorrow and let her know of the discovery----uuuugggghhhh, I am glad the mystery is solved!!!!!!!! guess I gotta keep her for the money I spend on her!!

Still here

So, today is memorial day and I ain't doing anything except looking at other people's blogs and finding people that I haven't seen for YEARS! It's amazing what technology can do! So, I am doing SO much better than I have the last few days. I still have two weeks off before I can go back to work. But my stomach is fine now for the most part. I just eat little meals and don't get sick. But I haven't really craved anything except cheeseburgers and fries. I am off the pain meds for the most part unless I push myself too hard doing things and then it's back to being flat on my back. I went to my grandparents graves in Bountiful. My grandma Willey has been gone a year--that has gone by really fast. Mom and Dad went to Hyrum to see her Dad's headstone that we just got put on. Other than that--not much is going on.

I'm Cured (maybe!)

So, yesterday they let me out of prison (the U of U hospital) after 6 very long drug hazed days of horrible pain and horrible roommates. They hope that the bowel issues have been fixed. I have a 5 inch long incision vertically from above my belly button down to there. They stapled it shut so now I can tell people I had my stomach stapled! But some of the nurses were totally awesome and so helpful to me. They made sure that I ate, was comfortable, and at ease after some very embarassing moments while I slept or was just sitting up--apparaently a common thing. Depends aren't that bad! Being cathed isn't that bad either--just ask for drugs and lidocaine and you should do fine!
I had one great roommate out of a total of five. The others were very loud, turned the TV up really loud, turned on all the lights, had visitors at odd hours of the night and so I never really got any sleep. ONe nurse finally told the others to let me have the room to myself for one night which I was extremely grateful for. The docs wanted to keep me for several more days but I had had it at that point because the nurses towards the end would not let me have pain meds every three hours as ordered and gave them to me every 8 hours. They stopped my PCA pump cold turkey which was a mistake since I had been told to wean off it since I had been getting fentanyl every ten minutes for two days. I was in tears the last day I was there and finally told the surgery PA I wanted to go home and she said it would be better so I could control the environment I was in. One nurse did tell me she went to Viewmont and we had a discussion about the people that we know. So there were some good and bad experiences,I choose to try to focus on the good ones............. but the real reason I went home is because they brought up my roommate who had three STDs that had been ignored for so long she ended up having major abdominal surgery and lost the baby she was carrying. They talked to her two feet away from me and told her everything that she had and the cultures that had grown out, she was moaning the whole time and I was just like--I am done, not sharing a bathroom ( i know you can't catch an STD from the toilet, but still!!!!!)so I went home to the quietness of my own house with my parents to lovingly care for me and to be able to watch my medications and get them when I need them (don't worry, not gonna get hooked!) But dialudid has been my best friend for the last two days :0)

Well, only 6 more days until I go to the hospital for yet another abdominal surgery and HOPEFULLY the last one! I will be at the U for a few days and then come home and have three weeks off! I only pray this cures the all night puking party and the intense horrible stomach pain I would not wish on my worst enemies. I would love to be able to eat again and know it won't come up again (sorry that's gross I know) But work has been absolutely wonderful about helping me out and wanting me to be cured since they love me so much (I am seriously not kidding--they really don't want me to leave since I am helping them out with so many projects and what not). So keep your fingers and toes crossed that the bad part of the intestines comes out and leaves me alone.....

Almost Over

Graduation is on FRIDAY. I am so so excited. I still have one more paper to write. Yep, it will be turned in the day I graduate. Yes, I go down to the wire cause I am a dork! But after that----NO MORE HOMEWORK! Work is crazy but really not dull at all-we have some interesting moments there and we make each other laugh which is good. Well, gotta get back to homework---stay tuned for pictures---don't hold your breath tho......

Another Day Less

Yipee, school is OVER on the 24th of April. I GRADUATE on the 2nd of MAY for EVER and GOOD! Larisa and kids and mom and dad are coming to graduation. I am so sick of homework. I am 3/4 of the way done with one out of two papers that are due oh by friday the 18th! Yeah, I procrastinate, what can I say??
But thanks so many times over to my FAVORITE BROTHER in the whole wide world for helping me with my homework for the last several weeks since I don't have access to some of the programs I am using at school. I know he really LOVES me! But I really do APPRECIATE it! Yes, as payment, you can spend the tax refund that was deposited into YOUR account instead of MINE! I still love you tho......
So when school is out and surgery is over, I will look at pictures to post so that you guys can have more entertainment than just reading!

Happy Easter!

I have been so busy trying to get things finalized for school and graduation that life has been so crazy! There are days I leave the house at 5 AM and get back home at 11 PM. I am working overtime so I can get the whole month of may off for yet more surgery--yay!!!!
I lost my debit card and college ID in tooele and someone was honest enough to turn it in to the hospital that I was working at there--apparently it was in the parking lot---yes I do have a purse-no I don't use it like I should.....
I have a new niece named Alysse Willey (did I spell that right??) She is so adorable. I was the first one to see her after she was born--so I feel pretty special that way! Here are the right after pictures and i will see if I can get the latest ones where she is a lot cuter!

Hello, I'm back!

Hey again, I just got back from St George a few hours ago. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and warm. I drove 90 miles an hour most of the time (literally). You know how many cops I passed? I lost count after 20 (seriously) They were parked every few miles or so and I guess were having nap time or something! We just remembered to tap the break slightly but for the majority of the time left it between 85 and 90 :) We got three hospitals done in 14 hours and then went to Denny's for dinner--mind you this is St George and only old people live there so there were lots of old people restaurants! But I thought it was good, either that or I was extremely hungry.....probably the latter! Someone knocked repeatedly on my door at 4:00 AM at the hotel we were staying at, but I didn't hear "Fire/Earthquake/HELP" after it so I wasn't gonna answer. But it made me wide awake. So I am now on like my 15-16th hour of the day. Well I gotta work on some homework--only 6 more weeks of school left aka 30 days! Yes!!!!!!!

Same old, same old

One of these days I will put up pictures, but for now you have to read what I write. I am now officially in panic mode because I am graduating in 57 days which means that I only have 45 days of school left and still need to write a 20 page paper that I don't know what to write about--uuuugggghhhh! But I am nearly done with the other two classes so I guess I will get those out of the way and then focus my little heart out on this one. I am going to be gone to St George next week for work (no fun involved what so ever) We will be working 18 hours and then get a few hours sleep and turn around and drive back home. Yay me! So that is how I am spending spring break next week. I just keep telling myself that in May I get a two week vacation from the world to just relax, sleep and maybe throw in a little surgery (no one's surprised there!) ta,ta got to get my beauty rest (obviously it still doesn't work)

Just another day

Today was a ton of fun sitting in the car for hours on end. I drove to Price, Payson and Nephi (a 400 mile round trip from Bountiful). It only took 12 hours. That's what I call a work day! There was a major snow storm on I-215 which freaked me out cause I couldn't see a few inches past the end of the state car I was in (it was a 2007 ford focus--love those cars!) But all in all, we got things accomplished at all the hospitals we visited and saw some interesting scenic sights with cows (never mind) and all the houses that are being built on every scrap of visibile land possible. Well, gotta go watch CSI:Miami before I go to bed. Have a nice day!

Happy UnValentine's Day

Being single, Valentine's is just a yucky holiday full of mushy stuff that couples do. But hey, I have sent valentines to my family and made cookies for half the neighbors to try and get myself in the mood! Nope-didn't work. So I am ordering a pizza that day and watching "Failure to Launch" which reminds me of all the guys in my singles ward. uuugggghhhh!
Today we learned how to use a blog at school. Thanks Shayla, for teaching me in advance. These things are kinda cool! It's like a journal that you don't care who reads it! uh-oh, gotta go, I just missed a half hour of American Idol---this season has been hilarious. Hope you all enjoyed the sunshine for the last few days.

Graduation Application time!

It's official. I am now cleared for Graduation from Weber State on May 2. Yes, after 13 years ( i know-I could have a PhD by now.....)I get my BS degree (not an abbreviation for you know what) So in a few months you get to see beautiful pictures of the gowns that will make me look like I am at a funeral.....I have to sign my life away and hand over money and get my diploma---they told me I could have what ever name I wanted on it. hhhhmmmmmm, how about tintin weewee (you'd love that Trevor)so it's finally gonna be over and I will never have to do homework ever again and can come home from work and sit in front of the TV and go duh yay! I don't even want to know how much money I have paid into that school. I could have gone to Disney Land several times over and on some dang nice cruises! oh well, it will benefit me in the long run!

So, nothing exciting is going on except that it is very, very cold. I can't believe I am going to say this, but I am sick of snow! I know we need it, but can it at least warm up to somewhere between 30 and 40 degrees?? I was the one wanting snow at Thanksgiving so I could get in the mood for the holidays. The holidays are over now! Work is crazy busy. I am constantly traveling between Ogden and Salt Lake trying to get cases in because we have to have all babies born from 2007 and earlier turned in by June of this year. Like that's gonna happen because we keep getting reports of newly diagnosed defects and the babies are 6 months or older. But hey it's job security right? Other than that, my stomach issues are a never ending thing that keeps me busy as well trying to figure out how to make me stop going to the ER at the oddest hours ( I love my parents for not getting any sleep either :0))But hey, we may start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel next week when I report back to my doc to see what some tests results say. If it's not one thing, it's another right?? You always gotta have something that keeps you on your toes, whether it be trials of your own, helping someone else through theirs, financial issues, whatever you have to deal with and you learn things such as patience (which I sorely lack), learning a new way of doing things or learning how to budget....
Well, I am getting off my soap box for now, hope everyone has a good day and tries not to freeze to death!
